Espresso Blend - an Italian-style Classic

Big, bold, and bursting with rich chocolate flavour, the Espresso Blend is a full bodied coffee in the finest Italian tradition. You’ll find Espresso tumbling through grinders in all of our torrefazioni and it’s the coffee blend chosen by most independent cafes slinging their espresso shots on Merlo coffee beans. 

This all-Arabica blend is built on a high quality, Colombian coffee base with rich cocoa flavours. Single origin coffees from Papua New Guinea are added for their soft milk-chocolate sweetness, rounded out by full-bodied Brazilian beans. 

Light spice flavour notes from Costa Rica keep things lively and the formula is finished with a dash of silky smooth class by way of Nicaragua.

We recommend the Espresso blend to all of our kitchen baristas looking to create cafe quality coffees on their home coffee machine. Merlo’s Espresso blend is a chocolate bomb which is smooth enough to drink as a traditional Italian stovetop, while packing enough punch for the flavours to carry a cappuccino or latte.

The ideal coffee to start your morning, and it’s our pick when we’re looking to build the perfect espresso martini later in the day. However you are using it, Espresso Blend is easy to work with and even easier to drink.

What’s in the bag?

Roasted daily in our Brisbane warehouse, the Espresso blend is a medium-dark roast created from carefully sourced origin coffees from around the world.

Each component is cupped on arrival to our roastery and put through stringent grading to ensure that we maintain the flavour and quality Merlo has become famous for in every batch.

Coffee harvests change from year to year, so we work hard on adapting our recipe components to craft the flavour our coffee drinkers know and love.

Each single origin coffee has an important role to play, and the flavours we look for are created by the varietal of coffee tree chosen by the coffee farmer, the altitude the crop is grown at, and most importantly the passion of our partner producers for specialty coffee.
